New Disney World Expansions And What It Means For Families
Disney World has announced the expansion of its Fantasyland area of the park. Debuting on May 28, 2014 is the brand new Seven Dwarves Mine Train, a kid friendly roller coaster the entire family can enjoy. The opening of this ride will signify more than just a new roller coaster; it shows that Disney World is always thinking of new ways to entertain their guests. Not only is the growth of Fantasyland a welcome treat for both guests and Disney World employees it also marks the biggest expansion that has ever been done in Disney World.
As the “centerpiece of the new Fantasyland” as Disney World chairman Ron Staggs declared in a recent press release, the Seven Dwarves Mine Train will take riders on an adventure through mountain scenery en route to visit the seven dwarves themselves. The ride was inspired by the classic Disney movie “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” and lets riders enjoy a magical and musical experience through a mine filled with diamonds and gems. Throughout the experience riders will see the seven dwarves themselves as well as the cottage they came to live in with Snow White. All of this is accompanied by music taken directly from the movie.
The most magical place on earth hasn’t stopped their expansion efforts with the new and improved Fantasyland. In addition to the opening of the Seven Dwarves Mine Train in May, come June a bigger and better version of the Disney musical “Festival of the Lion King” will open in the park’s Africa section. In addition, Animal Kingdom is also welcoming a brand new summertime dining experience for the whole family called “Harambe Nights.” This outdoor event will be held at Disneyworld every Saturday night starting June 7th and running until August 9th. Admission to this event requires the purchase of tickets separate from the park admission tickets. Guests will dine on authentic African food and be treated to storytelling, along with live music and opportunities to break out the dancing shoes. The highlight of this weekly street party will be a 55 minute show called “The Lion King Concert In The Wild,” which provides a unique twist on the Disney movie “The Lion King.”
All these great new attractions mean that some careful planning should be done in advance when one is taking their family to Disney World. Logic would dictate that those who want to check out the Seven Dwarves Mine Train not try to do it on the day the ride opens. Waiting a few days or even weeks is the way to go. Since these new attractions will likely bring tons more guests into the park it is best to inquire beforehand about where, when and how to purchase tickets in advance.
Though there is always a good reason to visit Disney World, they just keep adding more and more good reasons to the list, always increasing the magic of Disney World.
